Noida: A security guard was allegedly assaulted by a resident inside a lift of a society in Greater Noida West on the night of Sept 15, with a video of the incident later circulating on social media. Police said the dispute began over car parking.Police said Naveen Paswan, who lives in a rented flat in Tower B9 of Supertech Eco Village-2, had been parking his car in a no-parking zone for several days. A neighbour had complained about this to the security in charge, Alok Singh Yadav. Yadav had conveyed it to the security guard on duty in that area. On Sept 15, when Paswan parked his car at the same spot, the security guard asked him to remove his car from there. There was a verbal fight between them, but Paswan walked out.He then got into the tower’s lift, but the security guard kept requesting him to remove his car and followed him into the lift. He was purportedly trying to call the society’s management and report the altercation when Paswan started thrashing the guard. CCTV footage recorded on the camera inside the lift shows Paswan slapping the guard. The situation quickly escalates, and a woman, whom the cops identified as Paswan’s wife, tries to separate the men.Following the incident, a complaint was filed against Paswan at the Bisrakh police station by the security guard and the society management. The station house officer, Ranjit Singh, said a non-cognisable report for assault was registered against Paswan. He was taken into custody and later released.Yadav said that the society management is now in contact with Paswan’s landlord to get his flat vacated. According to him, Paswan has been given time until Sept 30 to vacate the premises. He said the additional time was being provided because Paswan has children. Otherwise, he claimed, the society would have sought to have the flat vacated immediately.Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and examine the circumstances surrounding the altercation. The video circulating on social media is also being taken into consideration as part of the inquiry.
