Times News NetworkKanpur: Residents continued to reel under sultry weather conditions on Sunday as bright sunshine pushed up the temperature, while high humidity added to the discomfort. South-easterly winds, blowing at a speed of 9.4 kmph to 14.7 kmph, provided some relief. A very light pocket of drizzle was recorded for around five minutes, but it had little impact on the temperature or humid conditions.According to the CSA University observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.4°C, 0.4°C higher than Saturday, while the minimum temperature also rose to 26.8°C.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon would remain active across all districts of the Kanpur division over the next 24 hours (September 13-14). Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely amid cloudy conditions. The IMD said a low-pressure area had formed over the region, while the monsoon trough was passing through Uttar Pradesh. As a result, humid heat is likely to persist, with showers possible at some places during the afternoon or evening. For Kanpur Nagar, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with a 25% to 37% chance of rain or heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon or evening.CSA weather expert SN Sunil Pandey said cloud movement over the next five days could lead to localised thunderstorms, strong winds and light rain or drizzle. Humidity is also likely to rise whenever the sun comes out.
