HYDERABAD: A watchman couple was brutally murdered at an under-construction building near Citizens Colony in Patancheru of Sangareddy district, triggering panic among residents. The deceased were identified as Somla Dasarath (50) and Manyamma (45), natives of Dongachintha Thanda in Mahabubabad. According to police, the couple had been working as watchmen at the site for the past four years and lived there. Locals told police they last spoke to the couple around 8 pm on Friday. After that time, nothing unusual was noticed in the area. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when residents noticed that the couple had not come out as they usually did. Around 6.30 am, locals called out to them but received no response. When they approached the building to check, they found the couple lying in a pool of blood inside the premises. Preliminary observations suggest the victims were attacked with heavy objects. The exact sequence of events and motive are yet to be established. On receiving information, Patancheru police rushed to the spot and inspected the scene. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination. A clues team collected forensic evidence, including fingerprints and other possible traces. Police are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around Citizens Colony to identify any suspicious movement. The inspector said there were no known disputes involving the couple either in the locality where they worked or in their native village. Police are questioning residents in nearby areas as part of the investigation.
