Patna: A 15-year-old boy was shot dead in broad daylight near an electricity office in Safiasrai police station area of Munger district on Saturday. Police said the killing was allegedly linked to a dispute that began around two months ago.According to police, the victim, Ishant Kumar, son of e-rickshaw driver Chandan Yadav of Naulakha, was allegedly called to the spot by two youths on the pretext of resolving an ongoing dispute, and shot dead. He sustained a gunshot injury to the head and collapsed at the spot.Ishant was first taken to a private clinic and later referred to Sadar Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Superintendent of police Syed Imran Masood visited the hospital after the incident and met the bereaved family. “Identities of the two accused has been established and police teams are conducting raids to arrest them. The source of the firearm used in the crime is also being investigated,” he said.According to the victim’s family, Ishant had returned home after attending classes at Town High School when a friend informed him that Niranjan Kumar and Ayush Kumar wanted to meet him near the electricity office for a settlement of an earlier dispute. When he reached the spot, Niranjan allegedly shot him before fleeing with his accomplice.Family members alleged that the dispute stemmed from repeated harassment of Ishant’s sister by the accused while the siblings were attending tuition classes in Hasarganj around two months ago. Following objections from the family, the children had stopped attending the classes.DSP Arjun Kumar Gupta and a police team inspected the crime spot and questioned local residents. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team also collected evidence from the spot. “An FIR have been registered against Niranjan Kumar and Ayush Kumar,” he added.
