Noida: A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death after a dispute over money collected during a wedding ceremony in Jhundpura.The victim, Shyam, was allegedly attacked with a knife during an argument over the distribution of cash gathered at the event. He was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police arrested five suspects and detained two juveniles. Shyam lived in Sector 11 with his family. His father works as a daily-wage labourer. On Thursday night, Shyam and his younger brother went to a wedding procession at a banquet hall in Jhundpura. Several local youths were also part of the group, including two juveniles and some others. The ones identified in the case are Asif alias Atthi, Tausif, Sudama, and Sarfaraz.During the procession, money was being distributed as part of a traditional ritual, and the youths collected it. According to the police, a fight broke out later over how the money was shared. A few juveniles accused Shyam and his brother of keeping a bigger portion for themselves. The argument didn’t stop even after the group started heading home, and soon turned violent. Asif allegedly attacked Shyam with a knife in a fit of rage. Shyam sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his abdomen, and collapsed on the spot.He was rushed to the district hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police reached the scene after receiving information and later sent the body for post-mortem examination. The body was handed over to the family on Friday afternoon.Based on a complaint filed by Shyam’s father, Lucky Batham, an FIR was registered against Asif, Raunak, Tausif, Sudama, Sarfaraz, and two juveniles under relevant sections of BNS. All the accused were produced before a court after their arrest.Cops seized Rs 1,770 in cash that was allegedly collected during the wedding, along with blood-stained clothes.According to cops, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that they planned to flee to their village in Bihar after the incident. However, cops tracked them down before they could leave the city.
