Bengaluru: An alleged extramarital affair ended on a brutal note with a 16-year-old boy and his homemaker-mother stabbing a woman and her younger brother to death in their house at HMT Layout, Peenya, Thursday.The victims are homemaker Yamuna Mallegowda, 36, and her brother Sudeep, 34, a factory worker. The boy and his mother were arrested on murder charges. Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) DL Nagesh said, “It is true the minor attacked the victims with the knife. But the question is, from where was the knife taken? And what was the boy’s mother doing when her son attacked and killed the victims? We strongly suspect her role. Therefore, we arrested them and are questioning them.”Preliminary probe revealed the minor’s mother had a relationship with Yamuna’s businessman-husband, Mallegowda. There were repeated fights between the two families due to this, and last month, the matter was reported at the police station.On Thursday 9.30am, the boy’s mother allegedly called Yamuna on her mobile, asking her to come to her house immediately. Yamuna decided to take her younger brother, Sudeep, with her. “Soon, a fight broke out between the boy’s mother and others. As tempers soared, screams were heard and neighbours rushed into the house through the door, which was ajar. To their shock, Yamuna and Sudeep were lying on the floor with multiple stab injuries. The knife was left in Yamuna’s back,” an investigating officer said.The boy had locked himself inside the room while his mother was sitting near the kitchen, weeping, police said.
