Chandigarh: UT Police arrested a 17-year-old boy in the case of firing during a religious event in Khuda Lahora. The boy is a resident of a Mohali village.Earlier, Jashanpreet, a suspect who was involved in the case, was caught by people present at the spot and handed over to the police. He was produced in court and remanded in two-day police custody on Friday.Raids are on to arrest accused Naman, who opened fire, and his associate, Sagar.Parambir and Gursewak of Khudda Jassu were injured in the firing that took place on Thursday night. They suffered bullet injuries and were rushed to hospital.On Thursday night, a religious event was organised near the road connecting Khudda Lahora and Khudda Jassu. The accused were wandering around in the area in a Maruti Swift car, playing loud music with the windows rolled down.People present at the event asked the youths to leave but they kept passing through the same route repeatedly.This led to an argument. The youths left but returned after some time, armed with weapons. It is alleged that Naman took out a pistol and opened fire while his aides attacked people with swords.Sarangpur police station registered a case against the accused under attempt to murder, the Arms Act, and other relevant sections of BNS.Police said the accused do not have a criminal record. Raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
