Hyderabad: A 19-year-old BTech student died allegedly after falling from the Secunderabad East Metro Station on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Nityateja, the elder son of Kokkonda Rajeshwar Rao, a 50-year-old teacher residing in Venkatasai Nagar, Chengicharla, in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.According to Gopalapuram police, Nityateja left his home on Friday afternoon, telling his father that he was heading to Ameerpet to meet a friend. At around 5:15 pm, his father contacted him and asked him to share his live location on WhatsApp, which the student sent at approximately 5:16 pm.Police said the incident came to light later in the evening. At around 7:57 pm, when Rajeshwar Rao attempted to call his son again, the call was answered by personnel from Gopalapuram police station, who informed him that his son had fallen from the first platform at Secunderabad East Metro Station. The youth was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital with the help of emergency services, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Based on a complaint lodged by Rajeshwar on Friday night, the police registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
