Thiruvananthapuram: Technopark has invited tenders to design and construct a new 12-storey prefab IT building at its Phase III campus, which is expected to add more than 2 lakh sq ft of office space to the state’s premier IT hub. IT and industries minister P K Kunhalikutty will lay the foundation stone for the building on Tuesday.The building will come up on around 1.5 acres at Phase III and is envisaged as a modern IT office facility. The tender covers both design and construction, and the selected agency must complete the project within 15 months. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 90 crore, including GST. The last date for bid submission is Nov 12, and the bids will be opened on Nov 13.The proposed facility is part of Technopark’s efforts to expand its built-up space and cater to the growing demand for IT office infrastructure. Phase III, spread over more than 90 acres, has emerged as an important component of the park’s expansion, with several companies already operating from the campus.The use of prefab construction is expected to help reduce construction time while allowing the facility to be developed to the standards required for modern IT operations. The building will provide additional space for companies seeking office facilities within the Technopark ecosystem.“Technopark is continuously expanding its infrastructure to meet the requirements of the IT industry and create more opportunities for companies to establish and expand their operations. New projects such as this will add to the availability of quality IT space at the campus,” a senior Technopark official said.Technopark currently has more than 13.1 million sq ft of IT built-up space and houses around 540 IT and IT-enabled services companies. The park recorded software export revenue of Rs 17,092 crore in 2025-26, registering a growth of about 17.3% over the previous financial year.The new Phase III building is expected to strengthen the availability of office infrastructure as Technopark continues to expand its campuses. The park’s official infrastructure portfolio includes ready-to-occupy, custom-built and co-development options for companies looking for IT workspace.
