Patna: With artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly reshaping education, Patna University (PU) on Monday launched a six-day training programme aimed at helping teachers understand and effectively use emerging AI tools in teaching and learning.Addressing the inaugural session of the course organised by the UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), former Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) director Subodh Sachan said AI was no longer a futuristic concept but an essential tool that teachers and students must learn to use with confidence.“Education and the teaching community cannot remain isolated from technological change,” he said, adding that the traditional teacher-student relationship was evolving into a teacher-student-technology ecosystem.Tracing the evolution of education through the printing press, computers and the internet, Sachan said AI was now driving the next major transformation. He said the technology was enabling personalised learning, simplifying complex concepts and strengthening data-driven processes. Its ability to generate content in multiple languages, he added, could make education more accessible and inclusive.MMTTC director Atul Aditya Pandey urged teachers to embrace the technology rather than view it with apprehension. “In a rapidly changing environment, the need is not to fear AI but to learn and use it with confidence,” he said.He added that the programme was designed to equip teachers with a practical understanding of AI tools and their applications in education.Course coordinator Sanjay Kumar said 67 teachers from across the country had been selected for the online programme. Experts from reputed institutions will deliver lectures and provide hands-on training during the six-day course.MMTTC deputy director Gyanendra Bahadur Chand proposed the vote of thanks.
