Jaipur: Govt school teachers in Rajasthan have raised concerns over the delay in announcing supplementary exam dates for Classes 9 and 11 after annual results were declared on March 25, saying students are due to move to the next class.
In a letter to the state govt Monday, Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association said supplementary exam dates for Classes 9 and 11 are usually included in the education department’s academic calendar. It said the 2025-26 calendar currently schedules these exams for the first week of July 2026.
The association said the 2026-27 academic session is set to begin on April 1, 2026, and while dates for examinations and result declarations were revised in the 2025-26 academic calendar, supplementary exam dates were left out.
“The scheduling of dates for the supplementary examinations appears to have been inadvertently overlooked. We request that, given the annual examination results were declared on March 25 and the new academic session is set to commence on April 1, appropriate directives be issued…” the letter said.
Teachers have demanded that the exams be held in the first two weeks of April, preferably in the first week or by April 10, followed by declaration of results.
Vipin Prakash Sharma, state president of the association, said, “Within the education department’s framework, supplementary examinations following the annual exams have been conducted in July (after the commencement of the new session), with the results typically being declared at the school level on the very next day. Without supplementary exams, there is confusion among teachers on whether to promote such students to the next class or not.”
