Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old teacher was crushed to death by a truck near the Rotary roundabout in Raj Nagar Extension on Tuesday morning. The woman was riding a scooter when the truck hit her from the side, causing her to fall under its wheels. She died on the spot.Police said the teacher, Amrita Gupta, worked at Little Flower, a school in Durgapuri, Delhi. Around 8am, a police team conducting checks nearby was informed of the incident and reached the spot. Cops seized the truck and detained the driver.“Gupta’s body has been moved to the mortuary of District MMG Hospital and her husband has been informed. Her family has not filed a complaint in the matter so far,” ACP (Nandgram) Ziauddin Ahmad said.From Jan 1 to April 30 this year, the city recorded a total of 365 accidents in which 147 people were killed and 275 were injured.On Sept 8, a 24-year-old on-duty constable died after the auto-rickshaw he was travelling in collided with a tractor in Loni.On Aug 12, a 40-year-old home guard died while a constable was injured after their bike was hit by a Thar at the Rahul Vihar underpass on NH-9.In the early hours of Aug 13, a sub-inspector posted in Aligarh was killed in a head-on collision between a Swift car and a tanker in Lal Kuan on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
