Kolkata: The Anandapur Police registered a case after a man from Bankura alleged he was duped of Rs 58.5 lakh by a private tutor—also a teacher of Harinavi school—on the pretext of securing a govt job for his son and a seat for his daughter in a govt institute. The fraud spanned several years since March 11, 2019. According to the FIR, the accused persuaded the victim to pay a ‘hefty amount.’ .The complainant alleged the money was paid in multiple instalments through online transfers and cash payments made at the complainant’s residence in Bankura and at the accused’s home in Madurdaha. The victim claimed that he discovered he was deceived only after the accused shifted to Kolkata from Bankura. In a written complaint submitted to the cops, the victim said he approached law enforcement due to what he described as the accused’s ‘deceitful behaviour’ and repeated false assurances. The complainant sought repayment of the full amount. He alleged that after the accused was transferred to Kolkata, he continued to provide cash payments, but grew increasingly concerned about his children’s future, including his daughter’s marriage, for which he had no money left.Police did not disclose whether any arrests were made or whether the accused responded to the allegations.
