Kolkata: Governor R N Ravi, the chancellor of Jadavpur University, stressed the need to acquaint the current generation with the legacy of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and the profound meaning behind Vande Mataram on the author’s birth anniversary on Friday. Terming him a “Rishi divinely ordained to wake up the nation”, Ravi said Vande Mataram galvanised the freedom movement but the concept of “Bharat Mata” was later deliberately weakened. He posted on X that Chattopadhyay’s contribution will continue to inspire the collective resolve to build a “Viksit Bharat by 2047”. Ravi also received a letter from teachers alleging administrative recruitment irregularities at JU.
