Mumbai: The Sambhaji Nagar Civic administration has demolished properties, including the home of AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel. Patel is accused of hiding TCS staffer Nida Khan, who has been booked by the police for allegedly grooming another TCS employee for illegal conversion and other offences. The AIMIM has claimed the demolition was unlawful and has labelled the action of the civic administration as ‘goonda raj.’

The demolition was carried out early on Wednesday morning as a JCB broke down the office and a ground plus one storey home belonging to Patel in Naregaon where Khan was hiding. The Sambhaji civic administration had pasted a notice on the structures after Khan was arrested claiming that the structures were illegal.

The Bombay HC had refused to offer Patel any relief.
Aware that the demolition would happen on Wednesday morning, former AIMIM MP Imitiaz Jaleel in the wee hours of Wednesday spoke to the AIMIM supporters and Patel’s family to not oppose the demolition.

“Do not oppose the demolition, the rulers are unjust. I am giving you my word that a grand home would be built in this place for Patel that the entire country will see.” said Jaleel.
