Chennai: Class XII state board students recorded a 95.2% pass, which is a marginal increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year. Of 7,91,654 students who appeared for the exam, 7,53,694 students (95.2%) cleared the exam.Girls recorded a 3.8% higher pass percentage compared to boys this year, as 4,06,167 of 4,18,724 girls (97%) and 3,47,527 of 3,72,930 (93.2%) boys cleared it. K C Kavin Kaavya, a Class XII student from Spartan Matriculation School from Mogappair, scored 598 out of 600 marks. She scored full marks in five subjects — French, economics, commerce, accountancy and business maths — and 98 marks in English. “I am glad that my hard work paid off. I want to study economics,” she said.V Sandhya, daughter of an auto driver, topped among govt school students, scoring 595 out of 600 marks. “I did not expect this high a score. I set a rule for myself to not be on social media and used my phone only to check academic updates,” she said.
