At a press conference here, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam founder TTV Dhinakaran also released the party’s manifesto for the polls.
Former minister G Senthamizhan has been fielded from Saidapet constituency in Chennai, a seat he had represented during the 2011-16 period when he was also minister in the J Jayalalithaa-led cabinet.
Similarly, ex-minister C Shanmugavelu has been nominated from Madathukulam (Tiruppur dt).
Dhinakaran also named candidates for Tiruchirappalli West, Periakulam (SC), Oddapidaram (SC), Poonamallee (SC), Mannargudi, Thiruvaiyaru, Karaikudi, Tirupathur and Nanguneri seats.
The party, a constituent of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, has been allotted 11 seats by the coalition leader.
AMMK’s manifesto promised, among others, efforts towards securing Bharat Ratna for the late freedom fighter Pon Muthuramalinga Thevar and the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, striving for a number of farmer welfare activities, including promoting natural farming.
