CHENNAI: Police are conducting a statewide search for a migrant teenager accused of sexually assaulting a Class IV student in Arambakkam, Gummidipoondi, on July 12.The victim was walking near her home when the suspect allegedly gagged her, dragged her to a secluded area, and assaulted her before fleeing. The traumatised girl returned home and informed her parents, who filed a complaint with the Arambakkam police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.Authorities suspect the accused is a migrant labourer working at a nearby construction site. A photograph of the suspect has been released, and police are conducting raids in migrant communities. Security has been heightened at the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, particularly the Elavur checkpost, to prevent the accused from escaping.“We are working on multiple leads and urge the public to cooperate by sharing any information,” said an investigating officer.Anyone with information is requested to contact the police at 9952060948.
