Erode: Karnataka deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar campaigned for Gopinath Palaniappan, Congress candidate in Erode East assembly constituency, at Sampath Nagar here on Wednesday.Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said he would tour several constituencies in Tamil Nadu to campaign for DMK alliance candidates and that Rahul Gandhi was expected to visit Tamil Nadu after the special session of parliament. He said the people of Tamil Nadu have decided to continue with DMK govt. He cautioned young men and women against being swayed by “cinema dialogues”, saying only Congress and DMK would benefit them. He said AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami was making allegations against him out of the fear of DMK-Congress alliance, which he said was in existence for 40 years. On Mekedatu dam issue, Shivakumar said the matter was in court, which would take appropriate action. Several DMK alliance leaders, including Congress district president Rajesh, DMK district deputy secretary Senthil and city council member P K Palaniswami, attended the campaign.
