CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu is set to establish an Olympic City and a Motor Sports City as part of its plans to create modern sports infrastructure and promote sports-related activities in the state.The Tamil Nadu Olympic City will have international-standard sports arenas, a High Performance Training Centre and accommodation facilities for sportspersons and coaches.It aims to provide better training and competition facilities and develop athletes capable of competing at national and international levels.A separate Motor Sports City will have a state-of-the-art motorsports complex and supporting infrastructure. Facilities will be created to host Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4 races.It will also provide training opportunities and help identify and develop young motorsport talent.The Motor Sports City is expected to attract leading motor racing and car manufacturing companies to the state. The project is also expected to create opportunities in tourism, employment and related economic activities.
