Chennai: State govt has renamed three Secretariat departments under amendments to the Tamil Nadu Government Business Rules, 1978. Commercial taxes and registration department will now be known as ‘commercial taxes, registration and religious endowments department’; planning, development and special initiatives department as ‘planning and development department’; and tourism, culture and religious endowments department as ‘tourism, culture and special initiatives department’. The changes, notified through a GO issued on July 7, also reallocate subjects relating to religious endowments and special initiatives among the departments.
