Chennai: CPI national secretary D Raja on Monday accused BJP govt at the Centre of taking away fiscal rights of the states by not releasing funds. Campaigning for candidates of the DMK front at Saidapet and Kolathur, Raja said there is no fiscal federalism in the country. “BJP govt is taking away the fiscal rights of the states. Where is fiscal federalism? States are not getting their due share of funds. In the name of New Education Policy (NEP), BJP is imposing Hindi across the state and has stopped funds when they refused to accept Hindi,” he said.He flayed Union minister of commerce and industry Piyush Goyal for his remarks about Tamil Nadu. “I challenge Piyush Goyal on his claims. In education, health, housing and livelihood, TN is a leading state. This is Dravidian model govt and the entire country is praising it. BJP is lying about TN and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami joined the saffron party in lying,” Raja said.Ahead of Ambedkar Jayanthi, Raja said, “When Ambedkar framed the Constitution, there were firm demands to announce India as a Hindu rashtra, but he rejected it. He said if India becomes a Hindu rashtra, it will be a huge calamity. What Ambedkar feared is happening now. BJP is the calamity pushing India towards Hindu rashtra.”He praised chief minister M K Stalin, saying, “People of TN are getting good governance thanks to Stalin. Unlike PM Modi-led govt, which is against the poor, TN govt is welfare-oriented. Defeat of BJP in TN will send signals of Modi’s defeat in 2029.”
