Ahmedabad: The BCCI has announced a significant revision to the IPL 2026 schedule, citing the upcoming local body elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat. To ensure smooth logistical operations and security during the polling period, the board has opted for a strategic venue swap for the high-profile fixtures between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. The afternoon clash, originally slated for the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 26, will now be relocated to Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, maintaining its 3:30 PM start. In exchange, the reverse fixture initially set for Chennai on May 21 will now be held in Ahmedabad. This night encounter is set to begin at 7:30 PM.This adjustment allows cricket fans in both cities to still enjoy their home games, albeit on different dates than originally planned. The BCCI reiterated that the changes were necessary to avoid any overlap with the democratic process, ensuring the safety of players and spectators alike during the election season.
