NAMAKKAL: The upcoming assembly election would be the last poll for AIADMK as it has formed an alliance with BJP, said Nivedith Alva, All India Congress Committee in-charge of Tamil Nadu, on Monday.Speaking after inaugurating the Namakkal East district Congress office, Alva said BJP has formed an alliance with the AIADMK to deceive the people of Tamil Nadu. “But the people of Tamil Nadu are smart. They will not easily let BJP gain a foothold here. BJP destroyed parties that were ruling in states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Karnataka. BJP has formed an alliance with AIADMK, and this will be the last election for AIADMK,” he said. Alva said discussions were under way about the constituencies Congress would be contesting. “This election is going to be historic. Grassroots workers who have worked for the party will also be given a chance,” he said.Alva said the party was facing the assembly elections after the intensive revision of the voter list. “Even if your name is on the voter list, when you go to the polling booth, you may get information that your name is not there,” he told party cadres.Talking about factions in the party, Alva said there was no point in being divided. “Rahul Gandhi should be made the prime minister while M K Stalin will take oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu again,” he said and appealed to the party cadres to work towards this objective. He said everyone should strive for the victory of the DMK-led alliance.Alva said he would inform the Congress high command about the cadres desire that the party should contest in the Namakkal assembly constituency.
