An anti-H-1 B activist Nick Plumb shared some screenshots that he said he got from a private Tamil community, showing that a man who had a medical emergency earlier this year got fired from his job. Others in the private group suggested that they might seek help from Subramanyam.Plumb pointed out that the Tamil H-1B man lives in Herndon which is in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, while Subramanyam represents the 10th District. “House Ethics guidance says members generally should not devote official resources to casework for people outside their district and can instead refer them to their own representative or senators. I don’t think Subramanyam was summoned based on the district he represents,” Plumb said, implying that Subramanyam’s help was being sought because he too has Tamil origin.“Despite being unable to vote and being out of district, people around him apparently knew exactly who to contact and claimed personal access to get his case in front of a congressional office. The question I want answered is simple: why was this case being routed through Suhas Subramanyam and what did his office do with it?” Plumb questioned.
‘Yes, this person reached out to me’
Instead of letting speculations go wild on X, Suhas Subramanyam cleared the record and said he was particularly aware of this case as a person reached out to him. But his office did not open a case yet. He said if the person in question lives outside his district, then his office will refer it to their member of Congress.“I’m easy to reach, so I get messages like this all the time from every community: white, black, brown, etc. I help everyone,” Subramanyam said.“Also, I’m American. Born here, never lived anywhere else. My skin color, being of Asian descent, or practicing a particular religion doesn’t make me any less American. Think about that when you call on me to be deported,” Subramanyam added.
