Hyderabad: In a major relief to govt employees, the state has released 1,000 crore for clearing pending dues. On the instructions of deputy chief minister and finance minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the funds were disbursed on Wednesday. This fulfils a promise made in the assembly and follows a commitment to release 700 crore per month, which has now been increased to 1,000 crore.With the funds, all pending GPF (General Provident Fund) dues of retired employees up to Oct 2025 have been cleared, providing relief to many senior citizens awaiting their benefits. Govt has also prioritised the processing of medical bills and scholarship payments, ensuring there were no delays.Last year, during discussions with employee unions, govt had promised to release 700 crore per month. Accordingly, govt honoured its commitment and made monthly payments up to March 2026.However, after observing the financial needs and difficulties faced by employees, Bhatti decided to increase the monthly allocation to 1,000 crore from the current financial year. As part of this, 1,000 crore has been released for April. Employee unions have welcomed the release of funds.
