In 2026 so far, 953 challans have been issued, with over Rs 14 lakh collected in fines.Officials said fines were imposed for offences including littering in public places, improper disposal of construction and demolition waste and open burning of garbage. Sanitation teams have been conducting regular inspections across the city to ensure compliance with cleanliness norms.MCG said the continued action reflects stricter monitoring and efforts to improve public awareness on sanitation, adding that enforcement against violators will continue.MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said maintaining cleanliness requires collective responsibility. “While enforcement will continue, I urge residents and shopkeepers to dispose of waste at designated locations and use door-to-door collection services instead of dumping garbage in public spaces,” he said. He also asked shopkeepers to keep dustbins at their establishments and ensure waste is sent only to designated spots.
