Surat: In a joint operation, the Navsari Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Cybercrime police arrested a 35-year-old man from Gandevi taluka for allegedly creating and circulating AI-generated posters defaming Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The accused, Hardik Patel, allegedly used Sanghavi’s photographs to create the posters, which questioned why the police alone should be held responsible for the liquor menace. The posters also stated that MLAs, councillors and sarpanchs should be held accountable if liquor is found in their respective areas. The Navsari Cybercrime police registered an FIR against Patel on Wednesday under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act for allegedly creating forged material with the intent to harm a person’s reputation. Patel had allegedly posted the posters on his Instagram account, ‘Kantha_Vistar’, following which they went viral.“Patel runs an egg cart in his village. He had dropped out of SVNIT after studying there for a year. He was also arrested by Bilimora police in the past in a drink-and-drive case,” police said.
