Gurgaon: A 17-year-old boy died after an SUV allegedly collided with his scooter near a school in Sector 93 on Sunday evening.Police said the accident took place near Shri Chaitanya School when Vikrant Yadav — a resident of DLF Garden City in Sector 91 — was heading towards Vishal Mega Mart around 8.10pm. The driver of the Scorpio fled the spot. Passers-by and occupants of another vehicle rushed the teenager to Aarvy Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.In his complaint, Vikram Singh, father of Vikrant, alleged that the unidentified Scorpio driver was “driving at high speed and in a negligent manner” when the vehicle “rammed” into his son’s scooter. He also said that Vikrant suffered severe bleeding from the head and ears due to the impact of the collision. Vikram was shopping at Vishal Mega Mart when he received information that his son had met with an accident near the school — on the road connecting Sector 91 and Sector 93 — after being hit by “a black Scorpio”.An officer said the teenager left home to meet his father at the shopping complex. “The boy’s father was already present at Vishal Mega Mart and Vikrant was on his way there. Their residence is located nearly 500 metres from the shopping mart, while the accident spot is around 200 metres from their home,” the officer said.Police said information regarding the death following a road accident was received from the hospital around 10.30 pm. A team from Sector 93 police post reached the spot, and crime and forensic teams also inspected the site, and relevant evidence was collected. After recording the father’s statement, a case was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of BNS at Sector 10A police station.Multiple CCTV cameras installed near the accident site and adjoining roads are being examined to ascertain the registration number and movement of the Scorpio. “In the CCTV footage analysed so far, the registration number of the accused vehicle could not be verified clearly. We are scanning footage from other locations to identify the vehicle and establish the driver’s identity,” the officer added.Man injured in accident: A 37-year-old man sustained multiple injuries after a cash van allegedly hit his motorcycle on Mata Road on May 19.Police said the victim, Sarvesh Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently living in Rajiv Nagar East, was on his way to work at Maruti’s spare parts department in Sector 18 when the accident took place around 2.30 pm.According to the complaint, Sarvesh crossed the traffic signal at CRPF Chowk and was heading towards Kataria Chowk when the van, bearing registration number DL1LAC3054, came from the direction of Sheetla Mata Temple and “rammed” into his motorcycle.The impact caused injuries to his left ear, shoulder, chest and other parts of the body. His motorcycle was also damaged in the collision. Police said the van driver fled the spot after the accident.Sarvesh was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he underwent treatment. On May 24, doctors certified him fit for a statement, following which police recorded his complaint. Based on the statement, medical records and preliminary inquiry, Sector 5 police station registered a case under Sections 281 and 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS.
