Lucknow: Lucknow police on Friday registered an FIR against a 36-year-old woman, suspected to be a resident of Uzbekistan, after she failed to produce valid travel documents and efforts to establish her identity and purpose of visit yielded no conclusive results.She was found wandering in a disoriented condition in the Naka Hindola area during routine patrolling by a police team on March 21, said an official complaint filed by sub-inspector Neeraj Kumar Singh at Naka Hindola police station.After sustained efforts amid language barriers, the woman identified herself as ‘Mubeena’, claiming to be the daughter of Abdul Qadir and a resident of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.However, she could not provide any documentary proof of her details.While the police shifted her to a Mission Shakti Centre, the Local Intelligence Unit and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office failed to verify her identity.Biometric procedures, including fingerprinting, photography and retina scanning, by officials of FRRO also failed to establish her identity and travel history.On March 23, her biometric data and photograph were shared with the Uzbekistan embassy through official channels.On April 2, the embassy responded that she could possibly be Khujaeva Ziyoda, daughter of Makhsudbek, born on April 24, 2001, and a resident of Khiva district in the Xorezm region of Uzbekistan. However, officials said the identification was tentative and awaits confirmation.DCP West Zone Kamlesh Dixit said the woman has neither produced a valid passport or visa nor provided any satisfactory explanation regarding her entry into India. “Preliminary probe suggests she may have entered India through Nepal and stayed in Delhi and Haryana before reaching Lucknow in March,” he said.Police have invoked provisions of the Foreigners Act and Passport Act. Further investigation is underway, with agencies in Delhi, Haryana and Nepal being alerted to trace her movement.During the course of the inquiry, the woman was shifted between safe shelters, including the One Stop Centre in Krishna Nagar and later a shelter home in Moti Nagar, to ensure her safety and supervision, police said.Police have invoked provisions of the Foreigners Act and Passport Act.
