Amravati/Nagpur: State Minorities Commission chairman Pyare Khan on Friday said a section of the Muslim community in Achalpur–Paratwada has decided to socially boycott the main accused, Mohammad Ayaan, in the sexual abuse case reported from Amravati district.Khan said parents and families have demanded strict action under the POCSO Act against anyone revealing the identity of the minor survivors. “I have asked the police to make no exception and register cases under the POCSO Act if anyone discloses the girls’ identities. No politician or influential person should be spared,” he said.He described the fallout as a “serious social crisis,” noting that some marriages in Paratwada were called off after videos linked to the case went viral earlier this month. On the boycott, Khan said several imams had consulted him over the phone. While there has been no formal announcement, an undeclared social boycott of Ayaan’s family appears to be in effect. On Friday, no member of the family was seen at the local masjid for namaz. At Achalpur Masjid, Qazi Gyasoddin stopped short of announcing a formal boycott but urged victims to come forward and file complaints so the guilty can be punished. He called on parents to remain vigilant about their minor daughters and monitor their social media activity. He also appealed to the community not to extend sympathy or maintain contact with the accused’s family, describing the alleged acts as shameful. Similar appeals were made in mosques across the district.Ahteshyam Nabil, a Congress worker from Achalpur, said the community’s stance reflects zero tolerance. “There is no scope for excusing the family. Islam does not approve such acts,” he said.Social worker Adv. Shoeb Khan, along with other Muslim leaders, had earlier submitted a memorandum to Achalpur SDPO Shubham Kumar seeking stringent action against the accused.Amravati Rural SP Vishal Anand, however, said there was no official confirmation of any community boycott.
