Rourkela: A woman died, while two others, including her husband, sustained grievous injuries in an alleged honeybee attack in a forest under Sadar police limits in Sundargarh district on Sunday. Gitanjali Bag (37) died on the spot, while her injured husband Mukund (47) and another woman, Gurubari Naik (47), are undergoing treatment at Sundargarh district headquarters hospital, police said on Monday.Police said they reached the hospital on Sunday evening after receiving information, and conducted an inquiry. An FIR was received on Sunday night, and a case registered. “We have registered an unnatural death case,” said Soudamini Nag, inspector in charge of Sadar police station.The postmortem was conducted on Monday, after which the body was handed over to Gitanjali’s family.According to police, Gitanjali, Mukund, Gurubari and her husband, Sukanta Naik, all residents of Budabahal village under Sadar police station limits, had gone to a nearby forest on Sunday to graze cattle. Mukund, Gitanjali and Gurubari were allegedly attacked by a swarm of honeybees. As they tried to flee, the swarm chased them, and repeatedly stung them.Sukanta, who escaped, alerted villagers and called an ambulance.
