Times News NetworkChandigarh: Sunshine returned to the city on Saturday after several days of cloudy skies and rainfall, but temperature continued to remain below normal. Despite the clear weather, the sunshine was not strong enough to bring temperature levels back to seasonal norms.According to the meteorological department, Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 25.1 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal for this time of year. Minimum temperature settled at 9.6 degrees Celsius, marking a six-degree departure below normal. Officials observed that while there was a slight rise in daytime temperatures compared to the previous day, the overall conditions remained cooler than usual. The recent spell of rain and thunderstorms across the region contributed to the noticeable drop in both day and night temperatures. Weather officials said the lingering impact of recent western disturbances continued to suppress temperatures, even though skies cleared on Saturday. Cool winds and lower night temperatures also added to the milder weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy to mainly clear skies over the next few days. A gradual rise in temperatures is expected, but a sharp increase in mercury levels is unlikely in the immediate future.MSID:: 129721465 413 |
