Himachal BJP president Rajiv Bindal

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress govt of weakening education, healthcare and financial sectors under the guise of “system change”.The BJP functionary said several govt schools were functioning with a single teacher, while many other institutions lacked adequate teaching staff, buildings, toilets, drinking water and other basic facilities. He alleged that increased registration fees for Classes IX and XI, along with augmented late fees, placed an additional financial burden on poor and middle-class families.Questioning the introduction of the CBSE and English-medium education, Bindal said such reforms required proper planning, teacher training and adequate resources. He also claimed that hospitals faced shortages of doctors and specialists, while diagnostic facilities such as CT scans and ultrasounds remained inadequate in several areas.Citing the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, the Himachal BJP chief raised concerns over rising debt and financial mismanagement, saying, “Govt’s 2032 self-reliance target is misleading.”
