Mysuru: A sub-adult tigress aged around two years was found dead near Gattavadi village in Nanjangud early Wednesday, with forest officials suspecting that it died of injuries sustained in a fight with another tiger.The carcass was found in the Gattavadi lake area, about 20km from a nearby forest in Chamarajanagar.DCF (Mysuru Circle) K Paramesh informed TOI that a female big cat was found dead near the village and that it is suspected that the tigress died after a fight with a tiger, based on the injuries on its body.The tigress had reportedly strayed out of the forest after getting separated from its mother.CCF (Mysuru Circle) SS Ravishankar told TOI that no foul play was suspected as all properties of the wildlife – teeth, claws and skin – were intact.The public alerted foresters after finding the tigress dead in the Gattavadi lake area, he said, adding that it may have died within 24 hours.The carcass will be disposed of as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines.
