Kolkata: A day of music, dance, patriotism and cultural splendour unfolded at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Salt Lake, as Mangalam Vidya Niketan celebrated its annual concert recently.The programme held on Aug 7 was a vibrant tribute to India’s rich heritage, its freedom fighters and the enduring spirit of the motherland.The celebrations commenced on an auspicious note with Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by an impressive dance on the ‘Shiv Vedsar Stav’.Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and Rashtrapati Award nominee Vidushi Prabhati Mukherjee was the chief guest. The renowned Hindustani classical vocalist was accompanied by popular singer Tanaya Bhadhuri as the guest of honour. Anshuman Vikram Jalan, chairperson of the managing committee and mentor of the school, and Vaishnavi Jalan, member of the school trust, along with other dignitaries were also present.The event formally began with the lighting of the lamp and guest felicitations. Anshuman Vikram Jalan and the principal took the stage to encourage the students, reaffirming the school’s focus on all-round development.A colourful and vibrant powerpoint presentation offered the guests and audience a virtual glimpse into the school’s diverse academic and co-curricular activities, reflecting the varied opportunities provided to the students, the excellent board results and the excursion by the students accompanied by the teachers.The central theme of the concert was India’s independence and the sacrifices behind the nation’s freedom. Students of the senior section paid heartfelt tribute to legendary figures and martyrs, including Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmibai, Khudiram Bose, Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Through powerful dance sequences, melodious songs and expressive performances, the students recreated the courage, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of these national icons.The school choir brought infectious energy to the stage, perfectly complemented by patriotic acts that stirred a deep sense of national pride. Commenting on the performances, the principal said, “The students delivered a stellar presentation, showcasing brilliant performances in both music and dance. Their confidence, flawless synchronization, and artistic expression were highly commendable.”The concert became a celebration of India’s heritage, freedom and unity, culminating in a fitting tribute to Mother India.
