CHENNAI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to address the concerns of students and added that students deserved his apology, not forgiveness.“India’s students do not need his forgiveness. They are owed his apology,” Rahul said, reacting to the Prime Minister’s reported remarks on “forgiving” students for their alleged remarks against him.Rahul met the families of students who died by suicide due to NEET and consoled them. The meeting happened in Mahabalipuram near Chennai.Rahul said nothing was more painful than seeing parents grieve the loss of their children and that every young life lost had left behind a family carrying lifelong pain. He said repeated paper leaks, cancelled examinations and years of preparation being destroyed overnight had exposed a broken education system. Students were being asked to work honestly in a system that was not honest with them, he said.He criticised the Prime Minister for not meeting a single grieving parent or a student whose future was stolen by a leaked question paper. He said the Centre had failed to acknowledge the suffering of students and their families.
