Lucknow: A youth-led cultural showcase marked ‘World Heritage Day’ in the city on Saturday, with students taking centrestage to celebrate India’s rich civilisational legacy through art, quizzes and interactive exhibits.A key highlight of the programme, themed ‘Our Heritage, Our Pride’ , organised at the State Museum Lucknow, was a curated photo exhibition featuring iconic sites such as the Ajanta Caves, Ellora Caves, Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, alongside Assam’s Charaideo Maidams, recently added to the global heritage list.As many as 267 school students participated in painting and quiz competitions, interpreting India’s heritage through colour, ideas and storytelling.Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said such initiatives help build awareness across society, particularly among the youth. “Our cultural heritage is our true identity. Efforts like these connect people to their roots and foster a more aware and responsible society,” he said.Chief guest Sanjay Kumar Biswal underlined that heritage defines a nation’s identity and its preservation is a shared responsibility. State Museum director Vinay Kumar Singh echoed the view, stressing that conservation efforts must go beyond govt initiatives and involve wider public participation.
