Buxar: With just 30 minutes left before the deadline, Buxar student Sonam uploaded the documents that secured her admission to Delhi University’s Shivaji College, averting the loss of an academic year over a missing government certificate.Sonam had approached the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) office in Aug after failing to obtain her non-creamy layer (NCL) certificate in time. Her application was rejected the next morning over discrepancies in the administrative blocks mentioned in her parents’ documents. The DHEW team contacted Delhi University’s admission cell, which said her admission could be processed if her father’s income certificate was submitted by the deadline. The team facilitated an online application and coordinated with the Circle Officer’s office for urgent processing. The certificate was issued around 4pm. Sonam was informed and uploaded the documents at around 4.30pm, half an hour before the deadline. She is now attending classes at Shivaji College.Alok Narayan Vats, senior deputy collector of Buxar, said timely administrative intervention and coordination could help students overcome bureaucratic hurdles and prevent deserving candidates from losing educational opportunities.“When all avenues seemed closed to me, the DHEW office helped save my dream. I am deeply grateful to the team and the administration for their timely support and guidance,” Sonam said..
