Kanpur: A 22-year-old woman preparing for the SSC examination died under suspicious circumstances in Hanumant Vihar, Kanpur, on Wednesday. Police took her mobile phone into custody and sent her body for postmortem examination.Rita, a resident of Bindki in Fatehpur, lived in a rented room in Hanumant Vihar and was preparing for the examination for about two years.On Wednesday morning, her landlord went to her room and found the doors closed. He informed Rita’s cousin Kuldeep, who lives nearby. Kuldeep alerted the family, after which the police were informed.Police and a forensic team examined the scene and collected evidence. Hanumant Vihar station in charge Rajiv Singh said the family has not submitted any complaint yet. Further action would be based on the postmortem report and facts emerging from the investigation.Rita last spoke to her mother and other family members by phone around 9 pm on Tuesday. According to the family, nothing during the conversation suggested that any untoward incident might occur.Her father, Ram Pratap, a farmer, said that Rita had visited home on Rakshabandhan and stayed for about seven days. During the visit, she had told him that she wanted to bring recognition to their family.
