Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Darshan HV said that the district administration took all measures to ensure that domestic LPG cylinders were not diverted for commercial purposes through the black market.Teams from the food and civil supplies department and the police already conducted surprise visits to prevent hoarding and black marketing. Meanwhile, he said LPG supply was also coming from MRPL, and its production did not decrease, according to its administrative director. The required LPG for IOCL was also imported, the DC said, adding that there was no disruption in the supply of domestic LPG cylinders in the district.“Strict action is being taken to ensure gas agencies and storage godowns do not hoard or sell LPG on the black market. Mangaluru City police and Dakshina Kannada police inspected godowns in the city and district limits, respectively,” the DC said.District administration also held meetings with general managers and senior officials of IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL to ensure LPG supply in the district was not disrupted. He advised public not to panic. On the suspension of LPG to commercial establishments, the DC said efforts are underway at the govt level to ensure that this issue doesn’t continue for long.The DC said LPG supply would remain uninterrupted for essential public service institutions, including hospitals, educational facilities, hostels, residential schools, military canteens, and prisons. The district administration also requested continuous LPG supply for religious services such as ‘anna prasadam’ in temples, churches, and mosques. A separate request for the railway canteen’s LPG supply was currently under review, he added.
