T’puram: Eight people were injured in a series of stray dog attacks at Panathura on Sunday morning, triggering panic among residents in the area. Locals said a stray dog suddenly turned aggressive and began attacking people in the locality.The injured are Ashwin, C Vijayan, C Vidyadharan, Shantha, Sankaran, Gomathi, Ravindran and Vishakh, all Panathura natives.The victims were taken to Govt Hospital, Thiruvallom, where they were administered anti-rabies vaccination. All of them were later discharged from the hospital.Locals said the sudden attacks have created fear in the locality, with many people reluctant to venture out of their homes. They said the presence of stray dogs had become a serious concern, particularly for children, elderly people, and those travelling on foot.“The corporation must intervene immediately and take effective measures to prevent further attacks,” said resident B Sudharman.“The situation cannot continue. Immediate action is needed to control the stray dog menace and ensure that residents can move around safely,” said another resident Viju Pushpangadan.
