Benchmark equity indices ended Monday’s session with gains, marking a recovery after a spell of heavy selling. BSE Sensex climbed 472.77 points, or 0.66%, to settle at 72,382.47, after rising as much as 722.23 points, or 1%, to 72,631.93 during the session. NSE Nifty50 advanced 133.80 points, or 0.60%, to close at 22,555.75.
Buying interest was supported by easing concerns over oil supplies and positive global cues.
Among Sensex constituents, ITC, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and Larsen & Toubro were among the major gainers. HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, Infosys and Asian Paints ended among the laggards.
