Patna: The Bihar Special Task Force (STF), in a joint operation with Patna police, has foiled a robbery bid targeting a jewellery showroom in Patna City and arrested six criminals. Firearms, ammunition and three stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession.The operation was carried out on Thursday in the Khajekalan police station area following intelligence inputs that a gang, including some recently released from jail, was planning to loot a jewellery showroom in Patna City. Police said the criminals had allegedly arranged weapons and stolen motorcycles for the crime.The arrested accused have been identified as Shivam Kumar, Vikas Kumar alias Vikatiya, Rohit Kumar alias Chikni, Deepak Kumar alias Telem, Mohammad Sahil alias Arif and Rajnish Kumar. During the raid, police recovered one country-made pistol, three desi kattas, one magazine, 11 live cartridges and three motorcycles.According to STF officials, the gang was also allegedly involved in a contract killing conspiracy in the Bihta police station area and is suspected to have links to several robbery and dacoity cases across Patna district.Police records show that Shivam Kumar faces 18 criminal cases, including those related to murder, robbery, Arms Act violations and liquor smuggling. Vikas Kumar is named in 16 cases involving murder, extortion, robbery and dacoity. Deepak Kumar faces 11 cases, while Rohit Kumar is accused in six criminal cases.The STF said the arrested men were allegedly involved in several incidents of robbery and dacoity reported from Khajekalan, Rajiv Nagar, Digha and Alamganj police station areas. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the gang’s involvement in other criminal activities, police said.
