Patna: The Special Task Force (STF), Patna, arrested a gold scam accused identified as Kundan from the Digha area on Monday. Six gold chains were recovered from his possession. Kundan was taking orders for gold jewellery from locals by showing them original gold samples and later fleeing with the money after delivering fake gold items, police said.Police said the accused is currently being interrogated at Digha police station. For the past approximately one week, he had been moving around the Digha area taking orders for gold jewellery from people. The local police station had no information about this, but the STF received a tip-off, after which it launched an operation to apprehend the accused.According to a statement issued by the STF, “Patna STF received information that the accused Kundan was roaming in the Digha area with the intention of committing fraud. Following this, the STF cordoned off the area and nabbed him.”During interrogation, Kundan revealed that he used to take orders from people for making jewellery. While taking orders, he would show samples of original ornaments. After collecting money in return, he would hand over fake gold jewellery to the customers and flee.Complaints had been received against Kundan at Digha police station as well as at various other police stations in Patna. So far, six complaints have been registered at Digha police station.
