Itanagar: A new steel bridge at Huri is set to reconnect remote villages and border outposts that were isolated by flash floods.The 85 Road Construction Company of Border Roads Task Force Arunank launched the bridge in Kurung Kumey district, a DIPRO report said on Friday.The Damin-Huri link was severed on July 13 after flash floods triggered by torrential rain washed away the 66-metre Bailey hanging bridge over the Kumey River.The project was executed under BRTF officer commanding Sandeep Tiwari in coordination with the district administration.“The successful launching of the steel structure marks a major milestone in restoring full connectivity to the region. The remaining works are expected to be completed within the next three to four days, after which the Damin-Huri road will be reopened for the movement of all types of vehicles,” Tiwari said.Temporary log crossings are facilitating pedestrian movement and emergency relief. Teams are completing approach roads and finishing work to restore all-weather vehicular traffic.
