Aizawl: More than 3,000 people in Mizoram are estimated to be living with HIV without knowing their status, prompting health authorities to intensify efforts for early identification and timely treatment, reports HC Vanlalruata. The Special Committee on Resolute Action against HIV/AIDS (SCORAAH) held its first meeting at the Mizoram State AIDS Control Society in Aizawl to plan stronger testing, treatment and prevention measures. The committee said 59% of newly detected cases are late, with baseline CD4 counts below 350, limiting early ART and contributing to deaths before or soon after treatment begins. Members also raised adherence and nutrition challenges, urged regular ART centre visits and discussed support for people who inject drugs.
