Bhubaneswar: The state govt on Saturday reviewed the progress of several major road infrastructure projects, including proposed elevated corridors, ring roads and flyovers, with works minister Prithiviraj Harichandan stating that their timely execution would play a significant role in the state’s economic growth.Chairing a review meeting here, Harichandan said several important projects in the roads, bridges and buildings sector have already received approval, while more are in the pipeline. He said the projects would emerge as milestones in strengthening Odisha‘s connectivity and supporting economic development.Among the projects discussed were the proposed Raghunathpur-Trisulia elevated corridor and an elevated road from Studio Chhak to Nuagaon, both aimed at easing traffic movement in and around the state capital region. The meeting also reviewed the progress of the proposed Pipili-Konark road project and the first and third phases of Daya West Canal road development works. Officials assessed the status of preparations, pending clearances and implementation schedules for these projects.Discussions were also held on the proposed new alignments for Bhubaneswar Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, key projects expected to improve urban mobility and decongest traffic within the city. The construction of the long-pending Kalpana Square flyover and a new elevated road aimed at facilitating smoother travel to Puri also figured during the meeting.Principal secretary of works department Sanjay Kumar Singh reviewed project-wise progress and advised department officers and chief engineers to expedite land acquisition, remove bottlenecks and accelerate preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) wherever required. Officials were directed to ensure that procedural hurdles do not delay implementation and to maintain close coordination among agencies involved in the project planning and execution.
