Pune: Pune municipal corporation’s standing committee members on Thursday raised serious concerns over lapses in daily garbage lifting from open areas and interruptions in water supply. Committee chairpeson Shrinath Bhimale asked the solid waste management and water supply departments to immediately take corrective measures to address the issues.Complaints of filth and lapses in garbage lifting were raised from areas in Wanowrie, Jambhulwadi, Wagholi, Katraj and from the city’s central areas, while reports of irregular water supply came from Hadapsar and Vishrantwadi.Bhimale has asked authorities to conduct individual site visits where issues of contaminated water supply have been raised. He said it has also been observed that overhead water tanks are being filled to full capacities because of interruptions in power supply. Power department should work jointly with MSEDCL to resolve these issues, he said.Meanwhile, decisions on new project proposals and allocation of funds were postponed owing to the ongoing code of conduct imposed for biennial elections for the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) Pune Division Teachers’ Constituency.
