Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin on Sunday questioned the stability of the TVK govt, stating that the way the govt was functioning had raised doubts whether it would last for even three months.“Today, the govt is functioning with a question mark dangling above whether it will survive for even three months, let alone six months, or five or four,’’ Stalin said speaking at an event in DMK headquarters organised to induct functionaries from other parties into DMK including former VCK MLA Panayur Babu.Stalin said the functioning of the administration had forced him to break his self-imposed silence over the govt much earlier than planned.Stalin said he had initially decided not to comment on the govt’s performance for six months after it assumed office. However, developments over the past few weeks had compelled him to speak out.“I had said that I would not speak about this issue for six months. There was always a concern that circumstances might force me to comment much earlier. That situation has now arisen,’’ he said. “Several people have started criticising the govt,” he said. While welcoming Babu into the party, Stalin said DMK’s responsibilities and work would increase when it was in the opposition. “Babu has joined us well aware of that,’’ he said adding that the former VCK MLA from Cheyyur was a man of ideology.Babu joined VCK in 2007 and was known for running ‘Velicham’ satellite news channel, the mouthpiece of the VCK. However, Thirumavalvan denied seat for Babu in the 2026 election.Speaking to reporters after joining DMK, Babu said he was forced to quit the party due to certain political decisions of Thirumavalavan. “I didn’t resign because I was denied MLA seat but due to political decisions of VCK,” Babu said.He also hinted that many more VCK functionaries are ready to quit VCK and join DMK in the coming days.
